This unique cross design contains a blend of native european and native american symbolism. The cross layout is patterned after a solar type cross, exemplifying the vertical axis as the solstice’s, and the horizontal plane the equinox’s. The cross structure is a stylized Celtic Cross, and also honors the mid points between solstice and equinox timeframes, which were honored in celtic tradition as the four prime festivals of the calendar year.

The 4 elements are lain out medicine wheel style. At the top (north) we have the star and moon representing Air (winds, endurance) clockwise we come to the wisdom of the east (rising sun) symbolically portrayed by the Oak leaf, Earth, (wisdom). Below we have the sun, Leiu (the shining one in Celtic lore) also South, love, warmth. Around to the west, the direction of the waters and rain coming on the west wind represented by the triple spiral, or triskele of the source of life (womb, water).
